Ethos Advisory Services Recommended Best Practices for Asset Management

SEI Investments and SEI Private Trust provide Ethos Advisory Services tools and resources that, in my opinion, offer best practices for asset management. There are others, but this method makes more sense than the alternatives. Again, this is my opinion. I’ve held this view since 1996. At times my confidence has been shaken, but not undermined.

Take a moment to read each asset management explanation provided below for elaboration. When you have questions, ask me.

Investment Philosophy recommended by Ethos Advisory Services

Sample portfolios recommended by Ethos Advisory Services. These are not the only portfolios recommended, nor are they appropriate for you. Determining your portfolio involves you and I in a conversation that determines how you feel about the trade offs of risk and return.

Representative Manager List - This is a sample list. Manager changes are made consistent with the Investment Philosophy recommended by Ethos Advisory Services.

The Asset Managers – This list is a sample; manager performance, personnel, and investment philosophy evaluations are continuous.  An investment manager’s evaluation determines whether or not that manager will continue as an asset manager. This too is consistent with the Investment Philosophy recommended by Ethos Advisory Services.

“SEI does not take principal risk. Nor (does SEI) actively trade assets, use leverage, underwrite risk, or engage in other risky underwriting activities on (the SEI) balance sheet.

SEI does not rely on the market to provide daily liquidity to fund (their) operation. This differentiates (SEI) from other companies who have experienced financial difficulties due to these practices.

SEI enjoys a strong cash flow, and throughout its 40-year history, has maintained a strong balance sheet, as measured by cash available, collectable receivable, and no direct-issued debt.”

SEI participates in the US Treasury Guarantee Program

“The Board of Trustees for SEI’s US-registered funds has approved participation in the (US)Treasury Department’s money market guarantee program.

(This) means that (SEI is) dedicated to keeping (investor) funds as safe as possible…The Treasury’s Guarantee Program will insure money market funds. For further protection, (SEI continues) to maintain a AAA-rating on (SEI) money market funds that have been historically rated AAA…SEI has offered money market funds for 27 years through many market cycles.

“SEI Private Trust Company (SPTC) is a trust institution-not a bank or brokerage firm. SPTC segregates (investor assets) from its own and holds them as custodian in the investor’s name. This means no other entity or person have claim to your assets, assuring their protection.

“SEI Private Trust Company, like other trust companies, may not pledge, lend, or margin assets that are held in custody. Further, (SPTC) operational controls help to limit risk. Providing a final layer of protection, (SEI) funds are regularly audited by independent and internal auditors, and are subject to routine examination by the federal Office of Thrift Supervision.”

“As a global firm (SEI) manage(s)more than 178 billion in assets for individuals and companies of all sizes.”
